MTA Today: Fighting for safety and fairness

mta today winter 2021The Winter edition of MTA Today features stories about educators’ ongoing fight for safety and fairness — for students, for their communities and for themselves — at schools and on public higher education campuses.

Although the rollout of the state’s vaccine program has been problematic, member organizing and MTA locals’ demands to bargain over health and safety issues have moved forward.

Higher education members recently brought an artistic touch to the fight for adequate funding, an end to unfair cuts, and greater protections for workers and students.

In this issue you’ll also find the fourth in a series of stories celebrating the MTA’s 175th anniversary, an update on key MTA legislative and non-legislative priorities, a profile of 2021 Teacher of the Year Jennifer Hedrington, and coverage of the 2020 Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee Conference, which featured appearances by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi and NEA President Becky Pringle.
